Do you regularly visit TripAdvisor to check your rank? If you’re like the majority of our clients, the answer to that is a resounding yes. In fact, you’re probably checking your rank multiple times a day!
Unfortunately, checking your TripAdvisor rank is not easy. Despite TripAdvisor’s rank algorithm recalculating business’ ranks on a daily basis, TripAdvisor does nothing to send you an alert when your rank changes. If you want to know your rank, you have to diligently check the website every single day.
There has to be a better way, which is why we developed a new tool we’re calling the TripAdvisor Rank Monitor.
Why Track Your TripAdvisor Rank
TripAdvisor’s rank is extremely important. The rank determines how likely TripAdvisor will suggest a business in a search and is displayed prominently alongside a listing’s reviews rating. According to TripAdvisor, the TripAdvisor popularity rank is the best indicator of the quality of a business, as it favors more recent reviews and guest experiences.
The Easiest Way to Check Your Rank
Now that we know it’s a pain to check your rank, but it’s vitally important track, how can we make rank monitoring easier for you?
We watched our client’s rank for several weeks and learned the average business’ rank changes one time every three days. If you’re logging in to TripAdvisor and checking your rank once a day, most days that’s completely a wasted effort. Only one out of three times will you see your rank change.
To streamline this process, we tasked our monitoring technology with watching for TripAdvisor rank changes. When our monitoring technology detects a rank change, an email is sent immediately with the new rank. The email is timely and contains relevant information about why your rank changed.
We didn’t stop there, though. We found we could make the emails even better!
With ranks changing every few days, the majority of time any single rank change will be insignificant. A business’ rank may fluctuate between several spots for weeks and not mean anything. However, we still want to know immediately when the rank is moving in a positive or negative direction beyond the normal fluctuations.
This is where rank history comes into play. We also tasked our monitoring technology with intelligently tracking a business’ full rank history for the past year, along with their review rating at every interval. We then optimized this data into an easy to understand table and included it with the email. The end results is a full year’s history of ranks that can be interpreted at a glance, quickly determining if a rank change is part of a trend!
